How to store candles

Keep a candle like you keep good oil. Cool. Dark. Upright. Out of a window.

Hartisans candles packed in a divider, scent on the bottom

Fragrance oils fade in heat and sun. Soy can sweat in a hot car and frost in a cold garage. If you are gifting later, leave the jar in a closet, not on a south sill.

  • Store upright so the wick stays true.
  • Avoid attics, dashboards, and a shelf over a radiator.
  • Dust the rim before you light it. Dust burns.
  • We write the scent on the bottom. You will still know which is which in a dark cupboard.

We pour to order, so most jars leave Durango young. You do not need to rush them. A year on a reasonable shelf is ordinary. If a candle has sat in a hot warehouse before it reached you — that is not how we ship — write us.

Questions

Do soy candles expire?
They fade, they do not spoil like food. Heat and sun hurry that. A cool cupboard keeps them useful far longer than a window ledge.
