How long do soy candles last
Burn time is a habit, not a sticker. We will not print a number we have not earned in a room.
An 8.5 oz Hartisans pour, burned two to three hours at a time with a trimmed wick, lasts many evenings — often a few weeks of ordinary use. A nightly four-hour lighting in a draft will finish it sooner. A tunneled jar dies early no matter what the label would have said.
What changes the life of a jar
- The vessel. Wider pools eat wax faster. A basin and a tumbler are not the same evening.
- The wick. Too large, and you burn hot. Too small, and you tunnel.
- The room. Drafts and fans lean the flame.
- You. Short burns waste the walls of the jar.
We test throw and tunnel before an oil meets the shop. We do not sit every vessel for a stopwatch life-test on every scent. If you want the long life, do the first burn properly and stop at a half inch.
