Durango, Colorado
Our story
Two people, one studio, and a light meant to be shared.
Hartisans started in Boston in 2020, during the pandemic, when Joey began pouring candles as a way to share his light with friends and family. The first jars left the kitchen as gifts. People kept them. They asked for more. A weekend craft became a small-batch company — still poured by hand, still sent with a note, and now shipped to every state in the United States.
After Joey and Sarah married, they decided to combine forces. They brought the work to their new hometown of Durango, Colorado, where they pour, pack, and show up at local markets. The candles are the same ones they have always made: natural vegan soy, a clean cotton wick, premium fragrance oils, and no label on the vessel. The scent lives on the bottom. The room gets the glow.
They sell online and in town because they love sharing the craft with their community and with people they may never meet. Nothing makes them happier than their light burning in your home.
When the flame is gone, the vessel is not. Clean it out, add soil and seed, and let something grow. Fire, earth, water, air — the full cycle, from candlelight to new life.
